Podgorica Airport (TGD) sits just 12 km south of the Montenegrin capital - one of the shortest airport-to-centre distances among all Balkans capitals. The downside: unlike most regional airports, there is no scheduled bus service. A metered taxi or pre-booked private transfer is the only practical option.

The airport is small and manageable. The entire arrivals process - passport control, baggage, customs - typically takes under 30 minutes for most flights. The taxi rank is directly outside the arrivals exit.

Ridehailing in Podgorica

Bolt operates in Podgorica city, but at the time of writing, app-based pickup from the airport is inconsistent. For airport arrivals, the official taxi rank is the most reliable option. Once in the city, Bolt works well for local journeys.

No Airport Bus - What This Means in Practice

Unlike Sofia (metro line M4), Tirana (Rinas Express), or Belgrade (bus 72), Podgorica Airport has no regular public bus connection. This is primarily due to the short distance (12 km) and the relatively low passenger volume compared to larger regional hubs.

A metered taxi for 2 people costs roughly €7.50–10 each - still very reasonable by Western European standards. For budget-conscious solo travellers, the cost difference between a taxi and a notional bus fare is small enough that the taxi is the practical choice.

If you are on a very tight budget, some travellers walk 1–2 km from the airport to the nearby area and pick up a local city bus on the main Bulevar džordža Vašingtona road - but this is poorly signposted and not recommended for arrivals with luggage or at night.
