Cetinje is primarily a day-trip destination from Kotor or Budva, but it makes a quietly excellent overnight base - cooler in summer than the coastal towns, significantly cheaper, and with better access to Lovćen National Park.

Cetinje is small enough that location within the town matters less than in larger cities. The central area near the Royal Palace and boulevard is most practical - close to restaurants, cafés, and the main sights.

Inside Lovćen National Park itself, basic overnight accommodation is available at Ivanova Korita - a plateau in the park about 10 km from Cetinje. Facilities are simple (hiker huts / bungalows), but the setting is exceptional and the sunrise from Lovćen is outstanding.
