Air Serbia relaunched daily direct service between Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) and Munich International Airport (MUC) on 22 May 2026, ending an 18-year absence on one of the Balkans’ most commercially significant European routes.

The daily frequency makes Belgrade accessible from Munich without a layover for the first time since 2008. Flights are operated on Air Serbia’s fleet of Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, with Serbian-style hospitality and catering onboard.

What the route means for travellers

Munich is one of Western Europe’s major aviation hubs, with direct connections to North America, Asia, the Middle East and across Europe. The relaunch means travellers from southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland now have a same-day option to reach Belgrade, while visitors originating in Serbia gain direct access to Bavaria and onward connections beyond.

Belgrade has established itself as one of the Balkans’ most visited capitals, with a vibrant nightlife scene, a rapidly expanding food and coffee culture, and a growing reputation for affordable city breaks. The city is also a common starting point for wider Balkans itineraries — overland routes branch into Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and beyond.

For summer 2026 travellers, this connection is particularly timely: the season runs from late June through September with warm weather, outdoor festivals and peak activity on the Danube and Sava waterfronts.

Practical information

Air Serbia operates from Belgrade’s main terminal. Munich connects to Belgrade as the sixth-busiest airport in Europe by passenger volume, with transfers to hundreds of onward destinations. Book directly with Air Serbia or through standard booking platforms.

For those planning a broader Serbia itinerary, Belgrade acts as the natural base — central, walkable and well connected by bus to cities including Novi Sad, Niš and Subotica. Train and bus links also connect into neighbouring countries.

The Belgrade–Munich route joins Air Serbia’s recent wave of network expansions, which has also added Baku and revived several other European frequencies in 2026.
