PriFilm is Kosovo’s flagship international feature film festival, held annually in Pristina in late September or early October. The festival screens international competition films alongside a strong selection of regional cinema - Balkan and southeastern European productions feature prominently - and hosts panels, masterclasses, and Q&A sessions with directors.
Venues
Most screenings take place at Kino ABC on Nëna Terezë Square, Pristina’s main cinema and a central landmark in the city. Partner venues around the city centre host additional screenings and industry events during the festival week. The square itself is a natural meeting point - outdoor seating at surrounding cafés fills up on screening evenings.
Programme and character
PriFilm attracts emerging filmmakers from across the former Yugoslav space as well as international guests. Competition sections cover feature films and shorter formats, with regional work given prominent placement alongside European and international submissions.
The atmosphere is unpretentious - evening screenings often end with informal gatherings in the bars on Rexhep Luci Street, a few minutes’ walk from Kino ABC, and in the cafés around Nëna Terezë Square. The festival has become a meeting point for Kosovo’s emerging film industry and students from the University of Pristina’s arts faculties.
Practical information
Tickets are inexpensive by European standards - typically around €3–5 per screening - and a full festival pass covering most competition films runs approximately €20–30. The official programme is usually published four to six weeks before opening night; check the festival’s website or follow on social media for the confirmed schedule.
Pristina has accommodation at all price points and rarely fills up the way Prizren does during Dokufest, but booking in advance for the festival period is still sensible. Search hotels in Pristina for central options within walking distance of Kino ABC.
