The Summer Bachata Festival Rovinj is a four-day Latin dance event held each June at the Adris Old Tobacco Factory in Rovinj, Istria. The venue — a converted industrial complex on the seafront — provides a striking setting for a festival that combines structured dance workshops with parties, pool socials, and late-night bachata concerts.

Format and programme

The festival is structured primarily for bachata dancers, from beginners to advanced, with a workshop programme running across the four days. International instructors lead sessions in bachata and related styles, with classes typically organised by level so participants can work at an appropriate intensity.

Alongside the workshop content, the festival runs social events in the evenings: beach parties, pool parties, and indoor concert-style events where headline bachata artists perform. The social dancing component — where participants dance freely to DJ sets — runs late into the night and is central to the festival experience for regular attendees.

The Adris complex gives the festival space for multiple activities to run concurrently, which prevents the cramped feeling that affects smaller Latin dance events.

Early June in Rovinj is warm (typically 20 to 25C) and less crowded than July or August. The old town of Rovinj — one of the most photogenic harbourfront towns on the Croatian coast — is worth exploring independently of the festival.

Bring light, breathable clothing for dance workshops, as the sessions are physically demanding. For the evening parties, the dress code is generally smart-casual Latin dance attire. Dedicated dance shoes are worth packing if you have them — the surfaces at the Adris complex vary.
